Dear Sir,
In answer to your letter of the 19th. ultimo I have
to inform you that this Council cannot accept the Medical Degrees of the University of Hongkong until Part II of the Medical Act, 1886, has been extended to the Colony by an order of His lajesty in Council.
Application should be made by the Government of the
Colony, through the Colonial Office, to the Privy Council for such extension, and, if this be accorded, it would then be open for this Council to consider any application which might be made by your University see pamphlet herewith.
Am I to understand that you formally apply for the recognition of the Matriculation Examination of your University?
I am writing at once without waiting for the papers as the question of revising the list of recognised Colonial Preliminary Examina-
-tions is now under consideration.
Yours faithfully, (sd.) A. J. Cockington,
for the Registrar.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine,
The University of Hongkong.
